He loved his sons and dedicated his life to his family’s well being.

Paul will be sorely missed by his sons, Marc (Julie Lessard) and Eric (Marylea Telfer), his granddaughters Andrée-Ann (Marc-Etienne Ouimette), Dominique and Leah-Kathleen, his great grandson Henri Ouimette, his sister Theresa “Terry” (Jean Dionne, dec), his sister-in-law Suzanne Dussault-Champagne, his many nieces, nephews and cousins as well as his many dear friends.

Paul was also a true company man, spending most of his adult life as an Executive of the Household Finance Corporation (HFC) in Montreal; joining in 1956 as a representative and rising to the position of Vice-President of Sales prior to his retirement in 1993. While Paul made many lifelong friends among his colleagues, he was perhaps his truest self at his beloved cottage in Garthby’s “Camp Comfort”. Surrounded by family and friends and with Esther, the love of his life, always by his side until her passing in 2012, he would entertain all (loudly!) with his knowledge of history and fauna; telling stories over a glass – or, on particularly good nights, many glasses – of whiskey. The cottage also served as “home base” for numerous hunting expeditions, which often included his great friends Tom & Roger and his nephew Michel. An epicurean before it became the goût du jour, Paul’s post-hunting feasts were legendary, with dozens piling into the cottage for good wine and a taste of duck, partridge or the “catch of the week”. Following early retirement, Paul devoted his considerable talents to his favoured pursuits, most notably the protection of wet lands through Ducks Unlimited, the back-to-nature transition of the Cambior mine site and the restoration of the historic Camp Comfort train station.

We trust we will do Paul proud by maintaining the Camp Comfort tradition of hunting with his dogs and hosting many dinners going forward during which Paul will be sadly missed but warmly remembered.

The family will receive friends and family for a celebration of Paul’s life at Urgel Bourgie, 1255 avenue Beaumont, Ville Mont Royal, on October 14, from noon to 3pm (ceremony held at 3PM).

Paul E.
